Day 01: Arrival: Chennai
On
arrive at Chennai, you will be greeted by our representative and
transferred to the hotel. You could spend the afternoon either at leisure
or take a short local tour of the city. Amongst the must visits in
Chennai, is The Marina Beach - the second longest beach in the world. The
gorgeous golden sands invite innumerable tourists especially during the
evenings. The British East India Company's St. George Forte is a famous
landmark of Chennai. Another colonial structure in the city of Chennai
worth visiting is the Santhome Cathedral. Late in the evening you could
visit one of the Pubs and enjoy a party atmosphere. Over night stay at
Chennai.
Day 02: Chennai-Kanchipuram-Mahabalipuram (70 kms - 65 kms)
After morning breakfast, check out hotel and drive to Kanchipuram.
Kanchipuram is a spectacular temple city and is one of the seven sacred
cities of India. The temples and gopurams are exquisite reminders of the
beauty of Dravidian architecture. The Ekambareshwara Temple, which has a
59-metre-high gopuram, a 1000-pillared hall and a sacred mango tree said
to be 3500 years old, is the highlight of this city. Kanchipuram is also
famous for its hand-woven silk fabrics. In the afternoon drive to
Mahabalipuram, a 7th century port city of the South Indian dynasty of the
Pallavas. It has various historic monuments built largely between the 7th
and the 9th century, and has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage
Site. Overnight stay at Mahabalipuram.
Day 03: Mahabalipuram-Pondicherry. (130 kms)
After breakfast in the morning, check out hotel and drive to Pondicherry.
Pondicherry, a relatively peaceful town as far as tourist movement goes,
is an enchanting and fascinating place. Whether you are looking for a
romantic rendezvous or a fun filled resort vacation, Pondicherry can
accommodate all of your gateway desires. On arrival at Pondicherry, check
in at the hotel and spend some time at leisure. Later in the afternoon you
could visit the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. It's a unique spiritual concept
revolving around offering work as a Divine offering. You can also spend
time at some of the beautiful beaches of Pondicherry. Over night stay at
Pondicherry.
Day 04:Pondicherry - Thanjavur (170 kms)
Morning after breakfast, check out hotel and drive to Thanjavur.
Thanjavur, the Granary of South India, is famous for the Brahadeeswarar
Temple. En-route to Thanjavur you can visit Chidambram, a city renowned
for its famous Nataraja Temple. One of the holiest cities in India,
Chidambaram is visited by thousands of pilgrims throughout the year. On
arrival at Tanjore, check in at the hotel and spent some time at leisure
relaxing. In the evening visit the famous Brahadeeswarar Temple. Over
night stay at Thanjavur.
Day 05:Tanjore - Trichy - Madurai (160 kms)
After
morning breakfast, check out hotel and drive to Trichy. Trichy situated on
the banks of the Cauvery River is famous for its Rock Fort and its temple
at a height of over 83 meters. The most amazing fact about the rock is
that it is one of the oldest in the world. Later in the afternoon drive to
Madurai, the second largest city in TamilNadu. It is famous for the
Meenakshi Temple with its towering gopurams and rare sculptures. On
arrival check-in at the hotel and spend the evening at leisure. Over night
stay at Madurai.
Day 06: Madurai-Periyar
Early next morning visit the famous Madurai Meenakshi Temple. Later in
the afternoon check out from the hotel, and drive to Periyar. Periyar, is
also known as Thekkady, and best known for its wildlife. On arrival, check
in at resort and spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure relaxing. In
the evening a boat ride at the Periyar Lake, which lies at the heart of
the sanctuary, could give you a lifetime's chance to spot exotic wildlife
in its natural habitat - like the eccentric bathing habits of the wild
elephants that come down to the lake. Over night stay Periyar.
Day 07:Periyar-Kumarakom-Alleppey (116 kms)
Early morning Boat Cruise on Lake Periyar to view Wildlife activities.
Later, drive to Kumarakom and board the House Boat. and then cruise
through the narrow canals and wide lakes enjoying the scenic natural
beauty - coconut trees, rice patties, small villages. Food and over night
stay on houseboat.
Day 08: Alleppey-Cochin (64 kms)
Morning after breakfast on the boat disembark at Alleppey and drive to
Cochin. On arrival on Cochin, check in at the hotel and spend the
afternoon at leisure. In the evening you could go boating at the Cochin
backwaters. Over night stay at Cochin.
Day 09: Cochin
Morning after breakfast, you enjoy a full day city tour covering - Jewish
Synagogue, the 400-year-old synagogue, which is the oldest in the
Commonwealth Countries. The interiors have exquisite hand painted Chinese
tiles and Belgian Chandeliers. St. Francis Church - The first European
church in India, Chinese Fishing Nets - The huge, elegant fishing nets,
The Dutch Palace - built by the Portuguese in 1557and later occupied and
renovated by the Dutch. In the evening rejuvenate your body and mind with
our Complimentary Body Massage.
Over night stay at Cochin.
Day 10: Cochin-Ooty (250kms)
After
morning breakfast, check out hotel and proceed to Ooty- The Queen of Hill
Satations, is situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level.
Lofty mountains, dense forest, sprawling grasslands and miles and miles of
tea gardens greet the passengers to ooty. On arrival at Ooty, check in at
resort/hotel and spend the afternoon in leisure. In the evening you could
go for a boat ride at the lake. Over night stay at Ooty.
Day 11: Ooty
After morning breakfast proceed for a full day local tour of Ooty and
Coonoor. Some of the important places of tourist interest are: Ooty
Botanical garden-Lush green well maintained lawns and rare tree species
are some of the many highlights of this garden. Doddabetta - At a height
of 2,623 metres, is the highest point in the district. Rose garden,
Wenlock Downs- A vast zone of amazing landscape, are other attractions of
Ooty. In the afternoon, proceed to Coonoor to visit some more interesting
places such as Dolphin Nose- is a great vantage point that offers a
panoramic view of the surrounding areas. Sim's park- the park more than
1000 plant species, including many flowering plants, pines, ferns and
shrubs. Lambs Rock - another vantage point that is ideal for taking
pictures and is a wonderful picnic spot. Evening return back to Ooty and
over night stay at Ooty.
Day 12: Ooty - Mysore (160 kms)
After morning breakfast check out hotel and proceed to Mysore. On the way
visit Pyakara dam and the Mudumalai forest. The Pykara Falls and Dam is a
beautiful picnic spot. The Mudamalai Wildlife Sanctuary boasts of very
rich flora and fauna, and is home to many endangered species. Elephants,
giant squirrels, sambhar, chital, barking deer and flying squirrels are a
common sight. On arrival at Mysore check in hotel and relax leisurely.
Mysore -is one of the major cities of Karnataka. Mysore is a vibrant city
teeming with tourists and visitors. It is known the world over for its
exotic sandalwood and rich silks.
Day 13: Mysore
After breakfast in the morning, proceed for a local tour of Mysore,
visiting St.Philomena's church-a beautiful Cathedral, reminiscent of
medieval architectural style. It is one of the largest churches in the
country. Chamundi hills- a well-known 335 metres high landmark, Mysore
Maharaja's Palace- is one of the important sights in Mysore. Built in
Indo-Saracenic style with domes, turrets, arches and colonnades, the
Palace is a treasure house of exquisite carvings and works of art from all
over the world. The Mysore Zoo- was set up under royal patronage in the
nineteenth century, is famous for breeding some very rare animals in
captivity .In the evening proceed to Brindavan Gardens to see the world
famous lighting show. Later return back to hotel and over night stay at
Mysore.
Day 14: Mysore - Bangalore (135 kms)
After
morning breakfast, check out hotel and proceed to Bangalore. On arrival at
Bangalore, check in hotel and later proceed for a local tour of Bangalore
visiting: Vidhana Soudha- A magnificent building of the Neo-Dravidian
style, that houses the State Legislature, Lalbagh Gardens-an expanse of
greenery and one of India's most beautiful botanical gardens, The
Government Museum: One of the oldest museums in the country, ISKCON
Temple: A blend of modern technology and spiritual harmony is the Hare
Krishna Temple, built on the hillock with a panoramic beauty. Late in
evening you could visit one of the several Pubs or Discothèques and
spent your time in a party-kind atmosphere. Over night stay at Bangalore.
Day 15: Bangalore
After morning breakfast, check out hotel and drive to airport for your
onward journey.
